Giving Circle Institute

The Institute is a six-month training experience that will equip giving circle leaders to deepen their circle’s impact and strengthen their circle over time.

Through the Institute, each giving circle will design and implement a new initiative inspired by one of the Institute’s four curricular pillars:

Ethical Philanthropy: Build a positive, empowering relationship between your giving circle and grantees, incorporating the latest thinking on ethical grantmaking.

Engaging in Civil Society: Transform your giving circle into a community of action, organize volunteer opportunities, advocate, and understand the systems of power at play in creating social change.

Jewish Expression: Deepen your giving circle’s engagement with the ancient Jewish tradition of philanthropy. Include more opportunities for members to explore their heritage through culture, ritual, texts, and more.

Community Building: Strengthen your giving circle community and learn to design all of your circle’s work in service of building meaningful relationships and connections.

Who can attend?

The Institute is designed for giving circles who have completed at least one giving cycle. If possible, we recommend that two leaders per circle participate in the Institute together.

About the program

  • Learning Retreat

The Institute kicks off with an inspiring two-day training with other giving circle leaders in New York on August 7-8, 2017 (directly following Amplifier’s Summer Convening).

  • Case Studies

With faculty support, participants will design and implement a new initiative to strengthen their giving circle. Once it’s complete, each giving circle will prepare a short case study about their initiative to share with the field.

  • Support

Our expert faculty and Amplifier staff will deliver top-notch educational resources and one-on-one coaching throughout the six-month program.
